Berwick and District School Band:
Your child has expressed an interest in joining the school band program. This site is designed to explain the full commitment of both students and parents when enrolling in band.

The band program begins when students are in grade five. Students may choose an instrument to play from a wide variety we have at Berwick School. Usually there is a band fee which helps with costs associated with the care and maintenance of the instrument. This fee is charged by the AVRSB and is separate from the budget and fundraising associated with the Band Parents' Association.

Berwick Band Uniform:
Grade 5, 6, 7 band uniforms should consist of a white shirt with buttons up the front, having a collar suitable to wear with a tie and long enough to be tucked in. Boys should also wear navy dress pants (no jeans) and a solid navy tie. Girls should wear a navy skirt (no denim or skorts ) Skirt length for grades 5 & 6 are to the knee and grade 7 is mid-calf.Skirts should be worn with navy tights or navy nylons.

Grade 8 concert and stage band uniforms will be provided for all students.

Black, navy or dark brown shoes are expected to be worn with the band uniform. Sneakers are not acceptable footwear.

Bewick Band Fees:
$40 grade 7-8 band students
$25 grade 6 band student
$20 grade 5 band student
* There is no fee for students
using their own instrument.
** Family Rates are; $40 for the first child, $20 for the second child and $10 for the third child.
*** Rhythm Section: $10 fee for guitar, keyboard                                                 and percussion instruments.

Commitment of each band member:
It is understood that a student registering in Band will maintain their commitment for one full year. Attendance at rehearsals is compulsory. Written excuses are expected when a child is able to attend school but is unable to attend band practices. Rehearsals may be held early in the morning, during lunch hour, or after school.
